Honor
and Memorial Gifts
Making a gift in honor of or in memory of
someone special is a meaningful way to celebrate
the spirit of a loved one or to celebrate
holidays, special events, or special achievements.
Making a gift in honor of or in memory of
someone special gives you the opportunity
to make a lasting tribute that will benefit
the Foundation’s mission. The Foundation
will send an acknowledgement card to the
person or family you indicate, informing
them that you have made a gift. We will
not disclose the amount of the gift unless
you ask us to. You will receive an acknowledgement
of your gift. Click

gift.
Matching
Gifts
Corporate matching gifts are an easy way
to increase the impact of your contribution
to the Parkinson Foundation of Western Pennsylvania.
More than 7,500 U.S. corporations match
gifts made by employees, officers, directors,
and in some cases, spouses/partners and
retired employees, officers, or directors.
By taking advantage of a company's matching
gift program, you can generate an additional
gift that may automatically double or triple
your own contribution. Here's how to make
a matching gift:
- Check
with your company's human resources department
to find out about its matching gift policy.
-
Many employers will provide a form for
you to fill out and send to us with your
contribution.
-
We will verify your gift and return the
form to your company, which will then
issue a matching gift contribution to
the Parkinson Foundation of Western Pennsylvania
in your name.
Planned
Giving
Wills and Living Trusts
Your gift through a will or living trust
supports the Parkinson Foundation of Western
Pennsylvania’s continued efforts to
find the cause and the cure for Parkinson
disease and to reach out to the Parkinson
community with information and support.
Many of the Foundation’s most generous
commitments have been in the form of bequests.
Gifts through a will or living trust provide
a legacy that continues to do good for years
to come.
You may choose to make an
outright bequest to the Parkinson Foundation
by leaving a specific dollar amount or a
percentage of your estate. Some people leave
the residue or part of the residue of their
estate to the Foundation.
The process of including the Parkinson Foundation
in your will or trust is simple. The following
is a sample of bequest language:
"I give (____ percent of my estate)
or (the residue of my estate) or ($_______
specific dollar amount) to the Parkinson
Foundation of Western Pennsylvania, a Pennsylvania
nonprofit corporation, for its general use
and purposes. The Parkinson Foundation of
Western Pennsylvania is located at 6507
Wilkins Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15217".
If you are considering a gift through a
will or living trust, we encourage you to
consult with an attorney who is familiar
with estate planning.
Life Insurance
Many individuals have life insurance policies
whose benefits they no longer need. If this
applies to you, you may want to consider
naming the Parkinson Foundation of Western
Pennsylvania the beneficiary and assigning
the Parkinson Foundation ownership of the
policy. You may also purchase a new policy
with the Parkinson Foundation of Western
Pennsylvania as the beneficiary. You will
receive a charitable deduction; and if you
are removing the life insurance policy from
your estate, you may also reduce your estate
taxes. Please contact your insurance representative
or attorney regarding donations of insurance
policies.
Gifts
of Securities
A gift of appreciated securities is a wonderful
way to support the work of the Parkinson
Foundation of Western Pennsylvania, while
receiving significant tax benefits. The
Foundation maintains an account with Smith
Barney to facilitate gifts of securities.
